Portinatx is a small town located at the northern tip of Ibiza.
Although it is known for being one of Ibiza’s best beauty spots, the town is pretty much sheltered from the more lively activities and revellers on the island. Portinatx offers a wonderful retreat and is a perfect example of what Ibiza truly has to offer.
There are several safe beaches in the area (the setting for the film, “South Pacific”), ideal for water sports and swimming. S’Arenal Gross and S’Arenal Petite are renowned as being excellent sands for families looking to play safely and relax, whilst Cala Xarraca and Cala d’en Serra are more pebbly and therefore better suited to divers and snorkelling enthusiasts. Glass bottomed boats will take you out, should you not be enthusiastic about getting your feet wet, and show you the colourful fish and sea life which abound off the island’s shores. Alternatively, there is a waterpark nearby and hiking across the varied terrain is also popular in these parts.
Portinatx has a variety of restaurants, famous locally for their fresh seafood dishes. There are several small supermarkets and shops, and there is also an open air “hippy” market each Sunday, selling gifts and crafts.
Although there is a variety of lively entertainment in the evening across the town, it is in no way obtrusive or a nuisance, and Portinatx certainly offers potential for those looking to enjoy the quieter life in Ibiza.
