Andratx is a municipal district, containing the villages of S’Arraco, Sant Elm and Camp de Mar.  The district’s stable population is around 8,000 and until recent years, was solely the residence of local Mallorcans.  However, now as one of Mallorca’s principal tourist destinations for the well-heeled, this often soars to around 24 thousand in the summer months.  Somewhat of a millionaire’s playground, Andratx village itself is steeped in history, with pretty cobbled streets, its thirteenth century church and Son Mos castle.

The village was originally built to defend the region from pirate attacks but is now an area populated with fantastic villagehouses, and steep, winding streets.

Nearby Port Andratx (Puerto de Andratx), a sheltered horseshoe bay, has its own marina, which is predictably cluttered with extremely expensive yachts.
