Alcudia and Playa De Muro

Location

Situated in the northern part of the island, settled behind the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range just to the south of Puerto Pollensa, Alcudia is a thriving commercial tourist resort. There are some stunning areas in which to buy a property for sale surrounding Alcudia which offer both mountain and sea views.

Description

Originally a Roman village, there are still many ruins and remains in existence in Alcudia, including the walls of the village and the Ciudad Romana.

One of the principal attractions in Alcudia is the market, which draws thousands of tourists and residents alike.  Other attractions include the numerous bars and cafes which are open until late in the evening, the upmarket restaurants and range of shops.  There are few activities for children other than the nearby “hidropark” and horse riding stables; particularly as there is no beach in Alcudia. However, there are several beaches nearby, such as those at Mal Pas and Barcares; and more child-friendly activities can be found just a half hour away, in Palma.

Nearby Playa  de Muro also has its own beach, as well as some good restaurants and bars.  It has a laid back atmosphere and is home to some wetlands that are renowned throughout Mallorca for attracting both birdlife and plantlife.

Property for sale in Alcudia

The village of Alcudia itself, along with its neighbouring villages of Puerto Alcudia and Playa de Muro, attract high-priced properties, often used as investment opportunities, tapping into the tourist industry.  Alcudia itself has some fantastic village houses to buy which are restricted with regards to development.

There is currently a great deal of development taking place in Alcudia;  principally luxury apartments and villas.   A three bedroom apartment for sale in Alcudia with sea views can attract well in excess of €850,000, whilst in nearby Playa de Muro, a four bedroom villa can be found for around €500,000.
